Job Description for a Procurement Intern/Trainee

On the job training to develop into a procurement assistant/analyst by supporting day-to-day purchasing and sourcing activities, ensuring timely and compliant procurement process

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with purchase requisition (PR) review, RFQ preparation
  • Help sourcing; request and compare quotations (RFQ/RFP).
  • Follow up RFQ with suppliers, submission schedule/extension, technical documentation.
  • Support with technical queries from suppliers.
  • Fill out and update the RFQs follow up shared file
  • Archive data from RFQs, emails, quotes, CBE, and technical documents Participate in supplier onboarding, HSE pre-qualification, and due diligence checks.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop practical skills in procurement process, reporting through softwares used by MOSEN and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or recent graduate in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP); PowerPoint and Word proficiency.
  • Basic understanding of procurement principles; SAP or ERP exposure is a plus.
  • English and French proficiency required.

Tools/Systems

  • Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint), Power BI basics is a plus; SAP on the job-training will be provided
  • SharePoint/Teams for document management; Outlook for supplier communications.

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Procurement Manager or his designate
  • Key interfaces: Requestors, Legal, Finance, HSE, and Suppliers.

Working Conditions

  • Office-based in Dakar with occasional supplier/warehouse visits.
